PTW provides E&I construction and commissioning for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project

PTW’s Vancouver team is providing electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction and commissioning services to the Trans Mountain e Expansion Project (TMEP), transporting crude oil, semi-refined and refined petroleum products. The Expansion extends from Strathcona County (near Edmonton), Alberta and Burnaby, British Columbia, with delivery points in Kamloops, Sumas, and Burnaby, B.C. The Expansion will see approximately 980 km of new pipeline added and will include 193 km of reactivated pipeline and will increase the pipeline’s current capacity by 590,000 bpd, for a total capacity of 890,000 bpd.

This project posed unique challenges, requiring our team to think strategically and leverage its collective experience to provide unparalleled support.

In addition to this flagship project, our Vancouver team continues to maintain an ongoing partnership with Trans Mountain offering comprehensive day-to-day facility maintenance services. As an electrical contractor for Trans Mountain, the PTW Vancouver branch plays a crucial role in various phases of the Project, including construction completion, commissioning support, and potential future maintenance needs. This collaboration not only bolsters our presence in the local community but also reinforces our alignment with organizations sharing similar core values.

With a team of up to 15 members, including Steve Badry and Dylan Ryan serving as offsite and on-site managers, administration, and craft workers, we have undertaken projects at three of the four Lower Mainland stations and terminals: Westridge Marine Terminal, Burnaby Terminal, and Sumas Terminal.

Upon approval of estimated quotes for several new projects with Trans Mountain and TMEP, the PTW Vancouver branches are positioned  to complete approximately 10,000 hours of work for local businesses in 2024.
